A New Article On The Petition...
Also recently on Family Guy Peter fails hard at Modern Warfare 2. He doesn't know what buttons to use... He would have done better if he had the ability to assign his own button layout.

***Warning the following post is not comedy*** Custom Button Mapping In Video Games... Open Letter
***Click here to view my online petition***
Dear Game Developers & Console Manufactures,
My name is Chuck Bittner, I hope this open letter finds you well. I am writing this to alert you to a large need in the gaming world and how you can help.
This letter is a general request for custom button mapping (reMapping) to be added to ALL video games. ReMapping is the ability to assign buttons of control for a game to any button on a game controller.
I am a quadriplegic gamer I don’t have control of my fingers so playing games is very difficult. I game using my face to control movement sticks and button pressing (youtube video). Many games come with three to five button configurations. Now for most people these layouts are fine as they can usually find one that can suit their needs. But as a disabled gamer we aren’t "like" most people. We have to be adaptable in our life to living with limitations, and sometimes we need other to help us adapt.
You may ask why I don’t just have a custom controller built, as there are companies that can do this. Really to me this is not a solution to this global problem in the gaming universe. While a custom controller would solve my issues and allow me to play more effectively, it would only help me. Others with disabilities would still be in the same situation as I am at the moment. What most gamers in my condition or with other disabilities really need is not an expensive custom setup but the ability to move button locations in a game.
I have seen numerous posts on developer’s message boards of people saying how much this would assist them or others they know. It really is something that should be implemented right away to assist people in accessing this popular form of entertainment. It should be noted that many non-disabled gamers have expressed their desire to have this feature added for their benefit also.
Some games today do ship with remapping available but the vast majority does not. Sadly it is something that would help many people, enjoy video games even more.
Now this letter is directed at game developers but also to console manufactures Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony. The reason being they could aid developers by giving them more tools to streamline the implementation of this feature. Also they could allow reMapping to reside in the console so users could use one preconfig for multiple games (for example one setup for all Call of Duty games). Even allowing a game start up to trigger the custom button layout.
That is my request to the game industry. I will post updates as I hear things. I want to thanks to everyone who reads this for taking the time to do so. Please digg or tweet this if you can.

Does it upset you when people "Stare"?
Me to staring child, "Ummm you better eat your vegtables or you'll end up like me, in a wheelchair forever... haahaahaahaa."
The kids afterward can't eat enough veggies! You can insert homework or chores around the house what ever-- it works amazing; they stop staring! ;)
